Recently, liquids containing CRD have been sold at various CBD shops. What is CRD? What are its benefits? We will explain what you should be careful of when buying it.
What is CRD?
CRD is an abbreviation for Crystal-Resistant Distillate, which literally means crystallization-resistant distillate. When placed alongside CBD and CBN, CRD gives the impression of being some kind of ingredient or cannabinoid, but that is not the case. It simply means distillate that does not crystallize/is difficult to crystallize .
*Distillate literally means something distilled, but in the context of CBD, it often refers to liquid or semi-solid broad-spectrum CBD.
What is the difference between CBD and CRD?
CBD is a cannabinoid component, and CRD is a mixture of CBD and other components that are difficult to crystallize. CRD can be said to be a type of broad spectrum CBD. However, because it is difficult to crystallize, it is attracting attention from liquid users.

From the left: 90% CBD, 50% CBD liquid, and CRD with about 50% CBD.
Types of CRDs
The basic idea is that CBD alone or in high concentrations will crystallize, so CRD is made less likely to crystallize by mixing it with other ingredients. Many of the other ingredients, such as terpenes and cannabinoids (CBC and CBT), are liquid at room temperature.
There are many different types of CRDs on the market, with variations in manufacturing methods and ingredients.
Types of CRDs 1. CRDs made by blending cannabinoids
This may be the most common one distributed in Japan. CBC and CBT are liquid even at room temperature and do not crystallize. CBD is used as a base to maintain its liquid state by mixing it with cannabinoids such as CBC and CBT that are liquid at room temperature. Such CRDs have clear ingredients and can be used relatively safely.
Type of CRD 2: CRD made during the extraction process of CBD, etc.
I think this type of CRD is the one that is in circulation alongside ①. It's a bit technical, but it's made during the CBD extraction process.
CBD does not exist as a single CBD from the beginning, but exists in the form of crude oil that contains a wide variety of other cannabinoids. From there, THC and CBD are isolated through various processes. After this process, what remains is the isolated CBD (basically CBD isolate) and "others." This "other" oil is rich in minor cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and CBC, as well as CBD that could not be fully isolated. This "other" is distributed as CRD.
When checking the ingredient analysis sheet of this type of CRD in circulation, it was found to contain 40% to 50% CBD and 10% to 20% other cannabinoids. So what are the remaining ingredients? (1) terpenes, (2) minor cannabinoids that cannot be detected by testing agencies, and (3) other cannabis components.
Of course, some CRD producers may add cannabinoids and terpenes later. We recommend that you check before purchasing whether it is completely extracted from hemp to suit your needs.
Things to look out for when purchasing CRD products
①Are there any unintended ingredients?
People who are interested in CRD products are likely to be natural-minded and want to use liquids made from hemp extracts as much as possible. On the other hand, just because it is CRD, don't assume it is completely natural.

They look different, but if you ask which one is CRD, you won't know until you analyze the ingredients.
Maybe they're selling it as CRD, which is difficult to crystallize, by mixing it with some kind of oil to lower the concentration of CBD. Because CRD just means "distillate that does not crystallize/is difficult to crystallize." When purchasing, check with the manufacturer and check the ingredient analysis table. Of course, it's important to buy from a reliable manufacturer.
② Pay attention to the ratio
When you search for CRD, you will find products with "CRD90%" and "CRD95%". They look like they have a very high concentration, but they do not state the concentration of CBD or CBN. Considering that most CRDs on the market are 40% to 50% CBD, it may be safe to say that products with a CRD of 90% are essentially 50% CBD.
summary
The new keyword CRD has emerged with the advancement of cannabinoid x liquid, which is a good thing, but if you don't fully understand what it means, you might be a little disappointed.
By the way, when I tried smoking the CRD that I bought, it had a strong hemp flavor and a slight sweetness, and it was delicious. Skew is considering commercializing it as it is if there is a demand.
[Additional Note] If you want to use CRD liquid with skew, click here
This liquid contains CRD, and over 90% of the ingredients are derived from cannabis. The remaining few percent also contains natural terpenes, making it a 100% natural liquid. The CRD used by skew is type ② in this article, and is made only from cannabis ingredients, but the CRD gives it a soft, sweet taste.
